Dr Sam Akbar is a clinical psychologist with over 10 years of experience.
Dr Akbar specialises in treating refugees with PTSD who have been tortured, survived war or sexual violence. She also teaches and trains other clinicians from UCL in London to the Middle East, and has recently returned from northern Iraq, where she was training clinicians in treating survivors who have been brutalised by ISIS. Prior to pursuing a career in clinical psychology, she worked as a documentary director and producer across a wide range of current affairs and factual programmes, including Dispatches and Panorama. Stressilient is her first book.
