“I have witnessed rude behaviour. One was a customer who spoke aggressively to a colleague and treated her differently to others. It was our job to reassure her that this was inappropriate. Other times we get drunk people coming into the store and disrespecting colleagues. After situations like this, you notice a colleague’s mood changes for the rest of the day, they take it personally even though it’s not their fault.

“The information at the Retail Trust training was really helpful and I wish I had known about some of it back in the day when things happened to me that I didn’t share. I will now share with every single person – it’s ok, we hear you, you can always tell us what has happened, and discuss how we can improve our safety system to better support colleagues, especially younger sales associates.”
